Sony launches Android based New Walkman players

- Monday, September 30 No Comments
Before there was the iPod, there was the Sony Walkman. One of the oldest brands in the industry, the Walkman name was once synonymous with portable music players before Apple came along and changed everything.

Sony launches Android based New Walkman players

But even after all these years and waning interest, Sony continues to make Walkman players and has kept them moving with the times. This week they announced two new members of the series, called the ZX1 and the F880.

The ZX1 is the top of the line model and comes with an enormous 128GB of built-in flash memory. It also supports 24-bit/196kHz audio playback in various formats, including FLAC and ALAC and has a new S-Master HX Amplifier for high quality output. On the front is a 4.0-inch, 854×480 resolution display and the ZX1 runs on Android 4.1 with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and Google Play Store support.

The F880 is the slightly cheaper model and retains most of the features of the ZX1. It does have a smaller, 3.5-inch display, however, and comes in 16/32/64GB capacities in black, white, blue and pink colors.
The Walkman ZX1 will be priced at 75,000 yen and the F880 for 27,000, 30,000 and 40,000 yen for the 16, 32 and 64GB models, respectively. Both devices will be available in Japan starting October 19, with no information yet on international availability.

Online Orders : Grand Theft Auto V (XBOX 360,PS3, PC)

- Wednesday, September 18 No Comments
There has been a particular theory going round for the last year or so, that "box set" TV has replaced movies as the preferred form of mass, culturally meaningful entertainment. It is the likes of Breaking Bad, The Wire and Homeland that are telling us about modern life now, rather than Hollywood's simplified three-act confections. Grand Theft Auto V, however, hints at a future in which that role is taken by games – or at the very least actively sought by them.

Unlike the vast swathe of wondrous entertainment the video game industry produces, this series cannot be safely pigeon-holed or ignored by non-players. For the last decade, Rockstar has wielded a sledgehammer over public perceptions of what video games are or can be; now it has struck with merciless force.

Set mostly within the glitzily superficial city of Los Santos, a warped mirror of Los Angeles, GTA V is a sprawling tale of criminal maniacs self-destructing on a blood-splattered career trajectory to hell. Michael is the middle-aged thug, obsessed with movies, who pulled a witness protection deal with the feds after a failed heist many years ago.

When his old partner Trevor, a sociopath who bakes meth out in the desert, turns up in town, the two join forces with a young black kid, Franklin, who's set on leaving his gang-infested neighbourhood behind. The aim is a few final high-paying jobs, but there's a festering resentment between Trev and Michael that goes back a long way, a fizzing fuse that trails all the way through the carnage.

This three-character format emancipates the narrative, jettisoning the awkward requirement for one protagonist to be everywhere, witnessing everything in this vast world. Switching between the characters can be done at any time while off mission, and all three have their own little pet projects to get involved with, adding variety and a few amusing surprises: switching to Trevor usually involves some bodily function or weird violent episode, while Michael has his dysfunctional family to manage. And overlaying all this is a huge plot about warring government agencies and corrupt billionaires.

The result is a freewheeling joyride through genre cinema and literature: there are psychopathic mafia bosses, insane motorcycle gangs, xenophobically sketched triads, corrupt secret agents and cynical movie producers – their stories twist and interconnect, slithering around the lives of our protagonists. It's dizzying at times, but also daftly compelling, and the influence of multi-strand dramas such as The Wire is obvious.

Sony Xperia Z1 Review and Features_NewVijay

When you have as good a foundation to build on as the Sony Xperia Z, it's easy to make a great phone. What's harder to pull off is delivering an upgrade that's worth the users' time and money. Well, we guess Sony didn't have a hard time improving on all important aspects of the predecessor.

Sony Xperia Z1 Review and Features_NewVijay

The Sony Xperia Z1 has one of the largest batteries in the 5" league and is probably the best looking Android phone there (the HTC One is a 4.7-incher, so even if you prefer metal to glass it doesn't really count). The smartphone also has the best-spec'd camera with the largest sensor and the highest pixel count and flagship-grade connectivity and processing power. Few smartphones match the Xperia Z1's Snapdragon 800 chipset and ample 3,000 mAh battery, so at least on paper, the Xperia Z1 is shaping up to be the smartphone to beat this season.

We'll only know for sure when the review is complete, but for now we are giving you a taste of the main menu.

LG G2 Review, features and drawbacks

- Thursday, September 12 No Comments
While other companies were bracing for war at the IFA 2013 expo and lining up their latest phablets, LG was counting down to the G2 launch. The Koreans did a few cool tricks to promote the beast, like shooting the Earth from the stratosphere, but the G2 is an attention grabber even without the expensive PR.

LG G2 Review, features and drawbacks_NewVijay

LG G2 Review, features and drawbacks_NewVijay

LG G2 is powered by the best mobile chipset available, it has a beautiful big screen with almost no bezel to speak of, and it even runs the latest Android version. But that's not what the LG G2 is going to be known for. No, the G2 will be remembered as one of the few devices to bring true hardware innovation for the first time in many years. While most makers just keep on pushing the number of CPU cores or go overboard with screen size, LG takes a fresh approach to how you interact with a big-screen phone in the most natural way.

With high-end smartphones going bigger by the day, the hardware design is struggling to keep up and slowly turning into a disadvantage. The lock key at the top of the HTC One is nearly impossible to reach, volume rockers keep switching sides and places until the moment you start guessing instead of knowing what you are clicking on? And this is just the beginning! How about those lockscreens with unlocking routines, which are getting increasingly weirder?

We guess we didn't realize how things could've been different until we actually get to see them from a fresh perspective. The LG G2 revolutionizes the Power/Lock key by putting it on the back of the device at the direct disposal of your index finger. You can unlock the screen with just a double tap too. No more finger stretching, using the other hand or doing some magical air gestures.

LG G2 Review, features and drawbacks_NewVijay

Now that we are done enjoying the new way of making things happen, we should also say a few words about the spectacular hardware the LG G2 is running on. The smartphone uses a brilliant 5.2" IPS+ display with great colors, contrast, viewing angles and very low reflectiveness. The G2 has the most powerful chipset on the market too - the Snapdragon 800 with a quad-core 2.3GHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. Finally, there is the 13MP camera with optical image stabilizations and full HD videos shot in 60 fps. And these are merely the most obvious things! Here comes the complete list of features.

Apple Announced new iPhone 5s

- Wednesday, September 11 No Comments
Just as expected, the newly introduced Apple iPhone 5s looks the same on the outside (if you don't count the new white with gold/champagne color option). It still has the same thin 7.6mm profile and it still weighs merely 112g. However it comes with a number of changes under the hood where pretty much all the work has gone into this time around.

Apple Announced new iPhone 5s_NewVijay
The A7 chipset

The iPhone 5s makes use of a radically re-engineered new chipset, called A7, which is twice as fast in CPU and GPU computations as the one in the iPhone 5.

Apple Announced new iPhone 5s_NewVijay

Based on 64-bit architecture for the first time, the new iPhone 5s is said to be up to 40 times faster than the original iPhone with graphics being up to 53x faster. iOS 7 is now a 64-bit OS, but it's backward compatible with all the currently available 32-bit apps.

The A7 also supports OpenGL ES 3.0, which opens the door to even higher-quality graphics, allowing for real-time computation of effects such as depth of field, blur, full screen vignettes and lens flares.

The processor is accompanied by the M7, a motion co-processor, which measures motion data continuously from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. Along with the new motion sensing API in iOS7 will enable a new generation of sports and fitness apps, which can read and monitor your physical activity much more accurately. The advantage of its presence is also directly related to the battery life as these apps will only "talk" to the dedicated M7 processor instead of reaching to the power-hungry main CPU.

What's more, regular apps will now have more information about things such as your mode of transportation. Thanks to the M7 processor, the Maps app, for instance, would be able to automatically switch to pedestrian mode as soon as you pull over your car and get out.

8MP camera

The new camera has a wider f/2.2 aperture (as opposed to f/2.4) and a 15% larger image sensor, which however is still 8MP. The larger surface has allowed for larger, 1,5 micron pixels (as opposed to the usual 1.4 micron ones). A larger camera sensor provides the benefit of lower image noise in low-light conditions and better tonal dynamic range in high contrast scenes.

Apple Announced new iPhone 5s_NewVijay

There is also a new double LED flash on the iPhone 5s, which Apple has dubbed True Tone, called this way because it allows to achieve more accurate colors tone. It consists of two LEDs, with each having a different color temperature. By analyzing the scene, the iPhone 5s would decide what mix of the LEDs' color temperatures is needed to achieve a naturally lit scene. The dynamic mixing of the LEDs color temperature allows for up to 1000 variations of the light output temperature.

The camera also comes with new image stabilization, albeit digital one. It works by taking four photos with a short exposure time. Then the best parts of those photos are combined into one image with as little noise, subject motion, and hand shake as possible.

There is also a Burst mode, which would shoot up to 10fos for as long as you keep the on-screen shutter pressed. Best of all, it would analyze the stack of burst photos and would automatically offers the ones it finds to be the sharpest. It will even rule out the ones on which your subject(s) has blinked.

The iPhone 5s camera will also capture 720p videos at 120fps, allowing it to create slow-mo videos. Another new feature in video recording is the addition of 3x zoom, accessible with the well-known pinch gesture. Our favorite digital video stabilization has been even further improved.

The industry-leading Panorama functionality has been improved, too. The Panorama would reach up to 28MP and exposure will adjust automatically as you pan with the phone instead of being fixed on the initial values, which get set at the start of the shooting of each panorama. This way all areas of the panorama image - both shadows and highlights - come out nicely exposed. Plus the Panoramas on the iPhone 6S are captures at 30fps, twice as fast as on the iPhone 5.

Touch ID

As plenty of rumors suggested before, the new iPhone 5s indeed sports a touch sensor embedded into the Home button. It's called Touch ID.
The Touch ID sensor is hidden behind a sapphire crystal lens. Around there is a metallic ring, which would detect the presence of your finger and activate the sensor without you pushing anything.

Apple Announced new iPhone 5s_NewVijay

The concept behind Touch ID is providing enhanced security in the sense that you can set it up to work instead of a passcode lock (which half the iOS users never use, as Apple's Phil Schiller said on stage).

The scanner supports multiple fingerprints and since it recognizes the owner, it can allow you to log on more securely to various services and even make purchases from the iTunes store, for instance, without the need to enter your password.

Touch ID can store multiple fingerprints and can read them at various angles.

Misc

The iPhone 5s will offer 10 hours of 3G talk time, up to 250h of standby, up to 40h of music playback. These numbers are the same as on the last year's iPhone 5, which is a nice achievement, considering the twice as fast CPU and GPU.

Apple Announced new iPhone 5s_NewVijay

The new iPhone 5s will be available in black and white fronts as before. The new option for a Golden back adds a third variety. The newly available colors are Space Gray (Black+Gray back), Gold (White+Golden back), and Silver (White+Silver back)

As expected the iPhone 5s will be priced just as the iPhone 5 - in the US, at least, it will cost $200 for the inadequately equipped 16GB version, $300 for the overpriced 32GB version and $400 for the splurge 64GB edition.

The iPhone 4S 8GB will be heavily discounted and will be selling for free on a two-year contract. Sadly, the iPhone 5 will be discontinued, obviously to make way for the iPhone 5C.

Both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5C will launch on September 20 in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and the UK. China is in the first wave for the first time.

By December the new iPhones will be available in over 100 countries, including for the first time NTT DoCoMo carrier on Japan.

Google announced new Android 4.4 KitKat

- Thursday, September 5 No Comments
For almost a year now, Android users have been speculating, and at one point even “confirmed,” that the next Android version would be code named “Key Lime Pie.” At Google I/O 2013, the Mountain View company alluded to the accuracy of those rumors by sharing a video presentation of a little Android eating some key lime pie.

Today, nearly four months later, Google finally announced that its next release will not be code named after the tangy pie, but instead will be code named after the chocolate candy bar, KitKat. Not only were rumors incorrect regarding the new version name, they were also incorrect regarding the new version number.

As was previously thought, Android 5.0 will not be the next Android release, rather it will be Android 4.4.

Google announced new Android 4.4 KitKat_NewVijay

Not only has Google announced the true successor to Jelly Bean 4.1-4.3, they have also sweetened the pot by offering a chance to win either Google Play credit or a Nexus 7, which will no doubt contain the latest Android operating system.

There is a catch though: You have to eat loads of Kit Kat bars branded with the Android robot in order to find the “golden ticket.” According to an interview conducted between Google and BBC, no money was exchanged between Nestle and Google in the collaboration to feature the chocolaty treat as the next Android version codename. ”This is not a money-changing-hands kind of deal,” John Lagerling, director of Android global partnerships, told the BBC.

Lagerling said the company wanted to do something “fun and exciting.” A post on the official Android Google+ page explained, “KitKat has been a favorite candy on the team for some time, so for the K release, we asked if they’d (Nestle) be willing to lend their iconic candy bar to its name.”

With every new release, Google stepped up its game in making Android the world’s leading mobile operating system. With Jelly Bean, came Project Butter and a faster, smoother experience.

Android design was refined with Ice Cream Sandwich, along with a merger of the previously disparate phone and tablet branches. Optimized for tablets, Honeycomb opened up the world to a new type of mobile computing. Gingerbread’s new sensor access and APIs made mobile gaming more enticing.

Froyo brought massive performance increases with JIT compilation. Eclair helped distinguish Android from iOS by allowing users to customize their home screens with features such as live wallpapers. And Cupcake and Donut introduced the operating system to the world, giving users a viable alternative to other mobile platforms of the day.

Although no further details have been released about Kit Kat 4.4, Google did provide a little teaser as to what should be expected. In its announcement, the company said, “It’s our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody.” Although that certainly does not say much, the statement is sure to be the culprit of many rumors to come.

Sony Xperia M Review & System Specification

- Monday, September 2 No Comments
Sony has made some great entry-level Android phones, but it's been a while since we saw a new model. The Xperia M injects new blood into the segment with both single and dual-SIM options. Based on the trademark Xperia design, the M scores high on looks and build quality.

Sony Xperia M Review & System Specification_NewVijay

The Sony Xperia M shares many of the design features that made its Xperia Z sibling such a looker, including the signature power key. It also has a hardware shutter key along with a couple of other features that are becoming quite rare in the smartphone world - a removable battery and a microSD card slot.

Sony Xperia M Review & System Specification_NewVijay

The Xperia M also offers a relatively big and sharp screen, 4" FWVGA of 245ppi, and a dual-core Krait processor, plus 720p video capture with its 5MP camera. These are specs that can be hard to find in the Xperia M's price bracket. Most entry-level Androids either have Cortex-A9 CPUs (or A5/A7), or record only VGA video or have sub-WVGA screens, which is why entry-level Windows Phone handsets are such an enticing alternative in the price range.

Sony Xperia M System Specification :

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual or quad-band HSPA support
Also available in a dual-SIM variant, called Xperia M dual
21 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA
    4" 16M-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of FWVGA resolution (480 x 854 pixels) at 245ppi
    Android OS v4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Dual-core 1 GHz Krait CPU, Adreno 305 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8227 Snapdragon chipset
    1 GB of RAM
4 GB of built-in storage (2 GB user available)
microSD slot (cards up to 32GB supported)
5 MP autofocus camera, single LED flashlight, geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, hardware shutter key; VGA front-facing camera

Sony Xperia M Review & System Specification_NewVijay

Sony may have hit a spot that Samsung, LG and HTC haven't thoroughly covered, which bodes well for the young Xperia M. The optional dual-SIM is great too, since a good smartphone with a second SIM slot can prove harder to find than you would expect (with screen, camera and chipset considerations in mind).

Sony Xperia M Review & System Specification_NewVijay

The Sony Xperia M runs Android 4.1 with Sony's magic sprinkled over many of the apps, including a Walkman music player with a dazzling array of sound enhancement options, plus the Album and Movies apps, which have some unique media management skills.

Samsung's fist Smartwatch Galaxy Gear leaked

A prototype Samsung Galaxy Gear unit found itself in the hands of our colleagues from Venturebeat who got to spend some time with the smartwatch and spilled some beans about it along the way.

Samsung's fist Smartwatch Galaxy Gear leaked_NewVijay

So, here it is. What you see above is a snapshot of a Galaxy Gear promo video, as the media wasn't allowed to take photos of the actual prototype it had. Anyway, the display of the Galaxy Gear is 3" in size and is of the OLED variety. The screen is square, but sadly its resolution wasn't disclosed.

The prototype Galaxy Gear itself is colored in dark gray and black and sports built-in speakers in the strap. Naturally, there'll be more colors on the way, but they weren't detailed. On the top side, there's also a 4MP camera, which is used to record health data as well as taking pictures. There's a special piece of software which recognizes if the food is fat or contains grains.

Samsung's fist Smartwatch Galaxy Gear leaked_NewVijay

The Samsung Galaxy Gear is going to be able to receive voice commands through the S Voice app. Thanks to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the smartwatch is able to connect to other smartphones, too. This allows it to sync call logs giving you the option to initiate a call from the watch to a Samsung smartphone. Wi-Fi connectivity also means social media integration with Twitter and Facebook.

Venturebeat reports the Galaxy Gear's battery is going to be good for up to 10 hours. The battery capacity wasn't disclosed, but from the photos you can clearly see that the Gear is going to be quite big.

IFA is just a couple of days away and the Samsung Unpacked event is promising to be a blast with the Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear smartwatch making their first official appearance.
